MWS-20RF-P Blast Furnace Profile Meter is an FM-CW Radar type Microwave Range Finder. It consists of a controller, a guide pipe and an antenna.

In blast furnace operations, it is important to control the distribution pattern of charged raw materials. Greater charging control results in more stable operation of the blast furnace and improves its reaction efficiency. The MWS-20RF-P Profile Meter is able to supply operators with the real-time information necessary to control the charging of raw materials.

The sensor is embedded inside a lance and is used for measuring the burden profile of iron ore or coke. The lance is designed to continuously drive the radar unit from the wall to the center of the blast furnace, in a repetitive fashion, whilst the radar continuously measures the distance to the surface: thus providing a two-dimensional burden profile.
